Whitewater

Usually my family paddles the Saugeen from Lobies Park in Walkerton to the next takeout (approx 15km).

A few swifts and class one rapids add a little excitement for new paddlers and kids.  This is a weather dependent trip, we are hoping for a sunny day so an ice cream afterwards can be fully enjoyed.

This is a good trip to introduce young people and children to paddling!

I am looking for a few crew member to complete our team. 

We are planning to get into the Barrens most likely starting in Yellowknife, paddle across Great Slave Lake, thrn get in into the Hanbury River, or Thelon River headwaters (through the Pike's Portage and Artillery Lake). 

The first part of the trip is mostly paddling on flat water and portaging. 

Part 2 will take us down one of the rivers and require white-water skills. We will finish in Baker Lake and fly to Winnipeg.

These are very well-known and frequently travelled routes.

This is serious whitewater river and as such,we are  looking for paddlers with good CIII experience, and good with planning a 3-4 day back country trip.  We will be shuttling to Lac Benoit beginning and will take 4-5 days to work our way to the ottawa  River watershed.  A side visit to check out the Eagles nest and Fildegrande river. We will paddle 4-6 tandem  boats and share meal preparation.  This is an Intermediate WW  trip, It will be challenging and a lot of fun as well. We will check out the fine work for Friends of Dumoine along the way. We will start out the day after Canada July 2nd day to allow folks to look after Canada Day festivities with family. We should be home the following monday.

Black flies should be done by then but we may have deer flies,bring a bug head net it may be warm weather and we travel in all weather.

A group of us set out to do this trip in early July of 2023,  but we had to cancel due to an active fire close to our route, and seriously low water levels too.  For this reason I want to do this trip 2 weeks earlier than we planned to do it in 2023.  

This is serious whitewater river and as such, I am looking for paddlers with good CIII experience, and good with planning a 12-14 day back country trip.  We will be begining on streams and lakes and take 2-3 days to work our way into the North French River watershed.  We will paddle 3 or 4 tandem boats and share meal preparation.  This not a beginners trip, for people who want to learn how to do 'up north' trips.  It will be challenging and a lot of fun as well. 

We will travel to Cochrane on a Friday, and get a car shuttle to our put in on the saturday.  We will make our way west to the North French watershed and then make our way down the river to where it eventually joins the Moose River, just 20 km south of Moosonee.  To return to our cars we will return on the Polar Bear Express Train with all our gear to Cochrane.  

This is not an expensive trip!  I expect the entire cost (not including food and gas money) will cost us around $400 cdn.  

After a wonderful and challenging WCA tour on the Hood River in 2025, I (age 66) am looking forward to a four- to five-week tour on the Elk and Thelon Rivers. It will start with the bird migration at the end of June or beginning of July 2026 on Rennie Lake and end at Hornby Point.

We will run the river on Saturday, camp at Wilderness Tours Saturday night, then do a second run on Sunday.

We will likely do the Middle Channel - the tamer of the two channels.  There are a number of rapids ranging from class 2 to 4, with easy scouting and portage trails.  The Ottawa River is pool drop, so easy to pick up swimmers at the bottom of most rapids.

This spectacular whitewater canoe route is filled with breathtaking views, wildlife and classic class 2 and 3 rapids with portage options. The Noire is a remote river located in Western Quebec and flows into the Ottawa River.The river is relatively small and the terrain alternates between Canadian Shield rock and sand. The navigatable rapids are long and the portages are short. (The Ottawa Valley Tourist Association)

There is  only 1 manadatory 60 meter portage, but that's it for the trip!

We will be paddling during 4/5 days following the current trough swifts and rapids and amazing sand beaches where we will be camping every night.

We will be screening interested paddlers to ensure it's a good fit for this trip.

A few laps down Palmer Rapids starting Saturday noon and the Lower Mad on Sunday.
