We are very pleased to present our 2026 Mike Wevrick Lecture:
Big Water, Big Country: Adventures and Lessons from Canada's Inland Seas
Seth Wotten
Seth grew up paddling, instructing and guiding canoe trips across Ontario before tackling the ultimate endurance test: solo paddling across Canada, from Montreal to Inuvik, on the Water for Future Generations Expedition. Seth has spent decades exploring Canada's remote watersheds in Northwestern Ontario, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, and has called the Northwest Territories home for thirteen years.
Through rich storytelling, Seth explores his evolution toward a passion for paddling massive bodies of water, sharing highlights from these vast aquatic landscapes, with a special focus on the unique features of Great Slave Lake. Attendees will journey across Canada's largest lakes while gaining valuable insight related to trip planning, navigation tactics, safety, essential gear and canoe outfitting when adventuring on open water.
