A leasurely run of the Petawawa River from Lake Traverse to Lake McManus over 4 days, 3 nights.
For those who are unable to participate in the posted trip dated on Sunday, June 30th, here is another opportunity to paddle the Lower Madawaska River or anyone wishing to do it again. This day trip normally lasts between 6 and 9 hours with a total of 8 rapids.
New email contact listed below . A nice introduction to moving water on the edge of urban sprawl. The Credit river should still be high enough to paddle from Norval to Meadowvale. No rapids, but plenty of ripples. Lots of bends in the river, ann a shute over the old damn in Huttonville. One dead tree across the entire river below Churchville requires ability to eddy out in advance. Good introduction to moving water, practice eddy turns, or just a lazy day letting the river take you past Greenbelt valley lands in NW Brampton, camp Naivelt, and wildlife in the City.
The purpose of this clinic is to help paddlers who have had introductory whitewater training to improve their paddling skills. On Saturday we will paddle the Lower Madawaska where we will take an aggressive line on all the rapids doing eddy turns and jet ferries. On Sunday morning we will go to Palmers and practice basic skills. We will critique your forward and correction strokes. Tandem and solo paddlers can benefit from this clinic. We will camp at my cottage in the area.
There is no charge. I can be contacted via email . Helmets are required. . Tandem canoes must have a centre airbag properly installed. This trip is conditional on decent water levels and decent weather. The water will be cold that weekend so wetsuits or drysuits are needed as it is very unlikely that participants will remain dry all day.
This day trip depending on participants will take about 6 to 9 hours for the complete shuttle routine. There are 8 rapids to tackle after about an hour flatwater paddling from the put-in.
DUE TO SEVERAL LAST MINUTE CANCELLATIONS -THERE IS STILL SPACE !!!
DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF RAIN EXPECTED THIS WEEK - THE WATER LEVEL WILL BE HIGHER AND LOTS OF FUN OF EASY PADDLING AS CURRENT WILL BE FASTER AND THERE WILL BE LESS ROCKS
NO BIG RAPIDS HERE
Yes we are doing it again.
It's under white water, but it is actually moving water, a river that has a enough current to have fun.
It's definitely for BEGINNERS. Walkerton to South Hampton
It's fun and we will have a great time.
It is a rural river, with lots of access points.
It is about 90 km and we'll do it in 3 days.
Day 1 we meet in Walkerton, where we unload, do the shuttle, have lunch, there is one rapid level 1,
Day 2 we have lunch in Paisley, the best ice cream ever there
we camp at Saugeen Bluffs Conservation Area.
Day 3 is fun as the river meanders in a lot of side arms.
We will also hope that day to see the Bald Eagle's nest again.
We share food, everybody decides upon a meal.
More information closer to the date.
Meeting at Chisholms mills at 10 am Saturday . Centre airbags in tandem canoes and wetsuits or drysuits absolutely required. The level is extremely high this week, near record so if you flip you could go a long way. We'll do the lost channel section in the afternoon. Contact via email to confirm

Due to flooding on the Moira, which is predicted to remain for the next week, we are re-scheduling our trip to Saturday April 26.
The Moira River north of Belleville provides a fun day of paddling from Lost Channel to Latta on a spring day.
The river provides a great opportunity for good novice moving water paddlers to move up to an intermediate level river. We'll meet at Chisholm's Mill at 9:30, do a car shuttle, and then warm up the easier lower section down to Latta. The rapids are not difficult; just a fun rollercoaster ride, with some surfing waves along the way. We'll go back to Chisholm's for lunch at the cars, and then do a shuttle to run the more technical and challenging Lost Channel section. We should finish up around 4:00, and then we can hit the nearby dairy along the highway. Boats should have full flotation, and you will need a wetsuit or drysuit.
Please note that as at the time of posting the river levels and weather cannot be predicted, the date could be changed if levels are not suitable or the weather is inclement. I like to play, and float along chatting with people. My idea of a fun outing isn't paddling in freezing rain muttering to each other "don't worry, we'll soon be finished if we hurry." So if you sign up, you needn't worry that you are committing to a survival exercise-just a fun day.
This very popular annual trip seems to be a great draw for all levels of paddlers. We are now into the 10 year doing this and we’ve enjoyed perfect weather (most times), portage free paddling, and a social barbeque that has followed our outing. This is a wonderful day to enjoy an easy moving water river and to socialize with other WCA’ers. The trip will start in south Cambridge where we will put in and then paddle to Paris. We will pass through scenic farm country, negotiate some easy grade one water, and stop for lunch along the way. Those interested are welcome to join us back at our house in Cambridge for some food, beverage, and social time.
