Photographing French River

6 day canoe trip starting and ending where Highway 69 crosses the French River. This trip is intended for enthusiastic photographers who will bring their interchangeable lens camera to capture stunning photos and videos of Canada's First Heritage River. Basic route is a figure 8 around Merranger's Island and French River Island - including a bit of paddling along the shore of Georgian Bay.

Itinerary description: 

July 17 - Launch Canoes at French River Supply Post. Camp near Ox Bay
July 18 - Camp near Dallas Rapids
July 19 - Camp at one of 5 campsites on the shores of Georgian Bay
July 20 - Camp near "The Elbow"
July 21 - Camp near Ox Bay
July 22 - Land Canoes at French River Supply Post

About 4 portages totalling about 500 meters

Required Items to Bring: 

You must bring or rent a canoe and all camping equipment. There might be opportunity to share some camping items.

Interchangeable Lens Camera and any other photography equipment that you care to portage and carry in your canoe.

Breakfasts and Dinners will be communal as per consensus assignment. Lunches and Snacks are your own responsibility.

Recommended Items to Bring: 

Sunscreen, brimmed hat, rain gear, dry bags, bug spray, etc...

How to Get There
Event Directions: 

Google maps from your home to French River Supply Post will get you there. The intent is to start paddling after lunch on Monday July 17.

Carpool Info: 

Participants are encouraged to car pool to reduce the cost of parking at French River Supply Post.
