Flatwater

I am looking to gather a group of experienced flatwater canoeists (kayakers welcome) to explore that part of Georgian Bay, 4 days, inclusive. No more than 6 people. Looking to enjoy the spectacular beauty of that part of the Canadian Shield. The idea behind this trip is to explore and take in the incredible beauty of the region not to cover long distances quickly. NOTE: As moving between these islands requires being out in deep, open water both people paddling tandem in a canoe need to be strong, experienced flatwater canoeists and both have to be very comfortable paddling in open water far from the shore.

Who's Invited:

People with flatwater experience who are adept at and comfortable in open water. YOU MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE PADDLING DISTANCES OF AT VERY LEAST 10KM IN A DAY.

Itinerary description:

The route is flexible and will depend on people's interests, and on weather. We depart from Dillon Cove Marina (1 Parker Lane, Nobel On. P0G 1G0 - https://www.dilloncove.com/) the morning of Aug 3, explore the vicinity of the Franklin, McCoy, and Mink Islands and return to Dillon Cove Marina on Aug 6. While out paddling we will choose campsites together based on their capacity and on weather conditions.

Dillon Cove Marina & Resort has tent sites available for those who arrive before the 3rd and/or wish to stay beyond the 6th. Participants to make their own camping arrangements for overnights at the Marina: Call Sue at 705-342-5431 or 705-938-0700.

Required Items to Bring:

I will not be supplying any equipment. All your typical camping gear and your own food. People with similar dietary preferences may want to organize meals together.
