Eau claire-Romaine-Aguanish rivers

Outing Type →

In my opinion, it is a challenging and amazing route. I will start in the Churchill (Labrador) watershed. I will change watershed to access the upper Romaine river. Going down the Romaine river for a short distance, I will then go upriver on the Sénéchal river to access the headwaters of the Aguanish river. The Aguanish is 260 km long and drops 550 m. Total length of the route is 600 km. I plan 22 to 25 days to complete the trip and 3 extra days for transportation (more for those living in Toronto area). I have done the portion from the train station to the Romaine (220 km) twice so far. Last time was in 2014 where I travelled up the Romaine to access the Natashquan headwaters. I found it remarkably easy to cross the watershed.
No charter flight.
Many portages will likely be unmarked.

Experienced wilderness travellers only. Expect lots of flies. I plan to average around 26 km per day, including the upriver portion, a 60 km portion. It may translate into 9 or 10 hours on the water per day.
I can provide satellite phone and Delorme for the group. Meal preparation to be discuss.
