2026 WCA Annual General Meeting

Outing Type →

Please join us for our 2026 AGM!

We will meet on Saturday, March 28th at 11:00 am.

The meeting will be held at MEC's North York store, at 784 Sheppard Ave E in Toronto.

This will be your chance to catch up with paddling friends, while getting an update on WCA activities and plans.

If you would like to join the board or a committee please feel to forward your name before the meeting.

It's also an excellent opportunity to address any gaps in your gear for the 2026 paddling and outing season, particularly since MEC is generously offering a 15% discount (on most purchases) to WCA members attending the AGM.

A BONUS SESSION for those attending the WCA annual meeting:

WCA Chair Joe Tobin will lead a session titled Land Navigation for Canoe Trippers.

The session will go over the basics of map and compass work, such as orienting a map, taking compass bearings, understanding declination, finding your location, and other useful pieces of old-school navigational lore.  The session will run for about 45 minutes immediately following the AGM.  The session will take place in the same meeting room, so no worries about getting lost on the way.  Bring a compass along if you have one, but join in whether you have a compass or not.  Joe looks forward to sharing a variety of navigational skills that have served him well in his 26 years as an officer in the Canadian Army.

Other
Notes

At the AGM we will elect members to fill open Board positions, and we will also highlight opportunities to be involved in WCA committees such as Outings, Conservation, Membership, and Communications.  The club benefits greatly with active input from a diverse group of both new and long-standing members, and it is also personally rewarding for volunteers.  You can also find out about how to organize a WCA outing, whether it's a morning paddle on an urban waterway, or six weeks in the Arctic.  Please reach out to any current WCA board or committee member if there are specific opportunities you
