Lake Scugog to Lakefield, via the Trent Severn Canal

Outing Type →

I am looking for someone to stern a tandem canoe on a trip paddling from the bottom of Lake Scugog up to the east - west route of the Trent-Severn Canal, then paddling eastward through the locks to get to my home in Lakefield.  I have booked two campsites for the first two nights paddling northward, and then we will camp three nights at locks on the canal.  This will be 5.5 days of paddling.  All days will be less than 30 km a day.  I only need one more person ... someone competent enough to stern a canoe for the bulk of the trip.  Your partner is an easy going capable person ... who just wants to paddle the bow of the boat.

This is a 'glamping' trip.  Easy.

Itinerary
Itinerary description

The trip is August 18th to the 23rd.

We will shuttle cars the morning of Monday, August 18th, leaving cars in Lakefield for the end of the trip.  6 days later we will paddle into Lakefield in the early afternoon.  While the campsiites near Scugog aren't necessarily cheap, camping at the locks is only $5.50/person, per night.  Not expensive.  If you don't wish to portage the locks (very doable) you can pay a small sum to get lock passes for your canoe.

Required Items to Bring

Enough food and gear for cooking your meals.  Camping gear too.  We will probably go 'out' for dinner at a few of the locks (why not, there are restaurants!).  I will give you all the details if you join us.

Recommended Items to Bring

PFD, Paddle, and canoe if you wish.
