This is a simple overnight trip into Big East Lake with a day trip on Sunday through Bentshoe and beyond. There are three booked and we are looking for another female paddler and canoe duo to join us.

Itinerary description

Meet at the Big East Lake put in at 11 a.m. Park in lot and portage to Put-in. Paddle to end of lake to site 26 and set up camp. Enjoy the day swimming and lounging and exploring the small nooks and crannies of this lake. Sunday we will do the same by backtracking to the take out and exploring the area across the road.

Big East Lake parking is located on highway 118 roughly 28 km east of Bracebridge and hwy 11 and 20 km west of Carnarvon and hwy 35. The parking lot is shared with Bentshoe Lake located on the north side. From the parking lot is roughly 200 meter portage trail to the launch or put-in site. Once in the canoe head south west along the north shore line to group campsite # 36. You will pass campsite 39 on the first point, 37 on the second point and ours is on the next point.
