MomenTO by Canoe
In partnership with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), celebration events will be hosted at Toronto’s two major rivers with national designations: the Rouge and the Humber rivers. Come and experience the natural beauty of these ancient watersheds, and learn about their human history stretching back thousands of years. Both events will offer the public a unique opportunity to paddle the rivers in a canoe, for free. Come to be inspired by the past and appreciate the natural wonders of Toronto’s nationally significant rivers.

Itinerary description

The TRCA has asked the WCA to assist in this event. They are looking for 6 volunteers to help.
From Cameron Richardson of the TRCA.
"I would love to have members from WCA out to help out with the Rouge event on August 20 and the Humber event on September 10 if possible. We would be looking for WCA members to be on the water in boats to provide paddling instruction to participants that need it, general safety to ensure all participants are safe on the water, and even provide some cultural and nature interpretation if comfortable. "
Gary's Notes:
No VSS check is required for this event.
1) I need you to confirm with me. Please sign-up here on line here.
I will send your information to Cameron Richardson of the TRCA.
He will register you on the TRCA Volunteer Hub website and send you a link.
2) You need to do the AODA training (The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) which is a 20 minute video with Q& A's. If you have done it before for Paddle the Don or otherwise let me know the details. If not and take it through the TRCA Hub page it will be recorded and you do not have to do it again.
3) sign the usual TRCA waiver for the event.
4) some cheat sheets hopefully will be provided for the cultural and nature interpretation if comfortable.
