Trent Severn Canal - Part II. (Lakefield to Bay of Quinte) Is now Full

Outing Type →

I will be paddling this trip regardless. I did it before, solo, during the last part of Covid. I paddled last June from Georgian Bay to Lakefield and many in that group asked that I organize a paddle to 'finish' the Trent-Severn Canal this summer. We will paddle Saturday to Friday (May 24 - 30), staying mostly at the Locks along the way. This is a glamping trip; we will camp on the lawns of the Trent-Severn Canal system, and will use their washrooms each night. People interested in traveling with me can join me in group meals, or organize their own. There is a good chance we will take the opportunity to have one or two meals 'out on the town', depending on which locks we stay at (TBA). I will organize a car shuttle from beginning to end, but if you wish to join me for just a portion of the trip you must organize your own.. You cannot just sign up for this trip . You have to go through the organizer first.

Itinerary
Itinerary description

Generally 20 to 30 km/day. We are at the mercy of where camping is available -- generally at the Locks of the canal. We will depart usually by 9 am, and arrive at our destination by 5 pm.

Required Items to Bring

Your own canoes (I may be able to match people up??), your own camping gear (decent rain gear and tents mandatory), and the food you will need to eat along the way.

Recommended Items to Bring

Leave your ghetto blasters at home! Our camping approach will be 'gentle' on the mind ... musical instruments, though, will be fine. Bring anything you'll need for your personal comfort. I may have more ideas on this later.

How to Get There
Event Directions

Leaving by 11 am on the first day of our trip. Any shuttling of vehicles will be done the day before (camping the night before in my backyard, or at the Lock in Lakefield, may ameliorate some of the organization of the trip). Shuttle details will be worked out as we approach the first day of the trip.

Carpool Info

TBA

Other
Notes

I already have 8 people for this trip (people from last year's trip). I am opening our trip up for 2 more canoes (I would prefer, and give preference to, tandem canoeists). Obviously, tripping for this length of time requires that everyone have a similar view of what makes a trip successful. So there is no automatic signing up for this trip. If you are interested contact me ... and we will have a conversation.
