Itinerary
Itinerary description

We will meet and stay at a cottage just north of Parry Sound on Friday evening, July 11th and drive north early Saturday morning (Alternative carpooling locations can be discussed later if necessary). The first day includes the drive to Temagami, carpooling vehicles to Mowat Landing, and a short paddle to Temagami Island where we will set up camp. There will be plenty of time to take a hike through the old growth forest on the island. For the next couple days, we will canoe north on Lake Temagami to the Sharp Rock Inlet and onto Diamond Lake where we will take a day off to relax or optional trip to Wakimika Triangle. After our day off, we will continue canoeing north into Lady Evelyn Lake via Diamond Lake. Another day off is planned to make an optional hike up Maple Mountain. The last leg of the trip includes paddling east for three more days where the trip will end at Mowat Landing.
Trip Highlights:
• Hike parts of the Temagami Island old growth forest trails (maximum 9 km’s of trail for hiking)
• Optional hike up to Maple Mountain for a great view of Temagami; (4.3 km long one way, 350m elevation gain)
• Optional canoe / hike to Wakimika Triangle; (14.5 km long canoe (round trip), up to 15.5 km hiking (include portage distance))
• Due to the amount of open water and potential wind, all paddle days will be kept to under 16 km’s per day (roughly 3 to 4 hour days)
