Vixen Lake in Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park

To participate please register by contacting me either by phone or email. Then we will contact Ontario Parks for any additional person under our reservation number. An advanced reservation and camping fee is required for this park. The park has no permit office on-site. Reservations are done by phone or on-line and paid by credit card. The camping fee is $12.43 per night for one adult person. There is also a $9.74 reservation fee that we will split the cost on later when we have the total number of participants. When you register, I will give you the park back-country campsite number and reservation number so you can pay for your camping fee.

Itinerary
Itinerary description: 

Duration date is Monday, September 12th at around 11:00 AM from Long Lake Access Point parking lot. Then paddle for about nearly 5 km on Long Lake, then portage 342m into Buzzard Lake, then paddle at just over 3 km onto the next portage for 207m into Vixen Lake where we will be camping for 3 nights on an island. Estimated time may vary between 3 and 5 hours depending on leisure stopovers.
Two days are an option to explore nearby Shark Lake with a 541m portage,or more adventurous three portages into Stoplog Lake. Maybe spend relaxing leisure time on the island campsite. Expect to return to the access point by the afternoon on Thursday, Sept. 15th

Required Items to Bring: 

warm clothing layers, sleeping bag, flashlight, your own food for three full days, utensils, reliable walking shoes, socks, raincoat & wear, drinking bottle(s), tent (depending if sharing), sleeping pad, toilet paper.

Recommended Items to Bring: 

camera, swimwear (if weather is still warm) towel, washing items, tealights, matches .

How to Get There
Event Directions: 

From Peterborough take Highway 28 north towards Bancroft for nearly 50 km, then turn left onto Long Lake Road for about 2 km to Access Point # 2 for overnight parking
