LOOKING TO JOIN A TRIP, SUMMER 2010
Dear fellow paddlers
I am an English outdoor education instructor based at Water Park on the shores of Coniston in the lake district, www.waterparkadventure.co.uk I was previously a chartered accountant and gave that up 8 years ago for a life in the outdoors - I've never looked back ! I have recently been awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship grant in order to travel to Canada for 8 weeks www.wcmt.org.uk. It is my intention to spend approx half the time helping out with centres who run canoe expeditions for young people and approx half the time on a canoe expedition for myself on a remote Canadian river. I am not some amazing adventurer who wants to paddle rivers on my own ( and I'm also quite a sociable person too ) and so am looking to find some others I could team up with. My first choice based on research I've done so far is the Nahanni and although I am strongly drawn to the mountains I understand there are a great deal many superb rivers and would be happy to look at others options if this proves to be difficult. As for my experience, I would call myself an intermediate paddler, up to grade 3 rapids in solo canoe or tandum - but that is on our rivers here in England and Scotland where the rivers are quite narrow and the rapid sections quite short. I'm not sure how that compares to large wide rivers with miles of continuous rapids. [ Has anyone paddled over here who can compare for me ? I've paddled lake district rivers as well as a couple of multi day canoe expeditions in Scotland - The Spey, Tay and have got The Dee lined up for end of April. ] I'm 37 and married to my wonderful husband Adrian who is incredibly supportive of this trip - he kayaks but would really rather be climbing than paddling. I love mountain walking and sailing as well as paddling and have recently taken up kite surfing ! I love the peaceful moments when you're having a cup of tea by the river as much ( actually probably more) as the adrenalin filled ones when paddling the rapids. I am planning my trip for July & August and am reasonably for dates within the time frame, and really just have to work around the time I can get helping out with groups of young people. I would love to hear from anyone in the process of organising a trip this Summer who thinks I may fit in to their team. Thank you for letting me use your website. Safe and enjoyable paddling to you all.

SEARCHING FOR POTENTIAL PADDLING/ADVENTURE PARTNER TO EXPLORE DISTANT LOCALS
Our 2009 trips are starting. Will be retiring in a year or so and would like to do some one month paddling/hiking adventures in distant lands. Have when younger, travelled on the cheap around the world a few times and still do short touristy visits occasionally to places like east and west coast of Canada, Utah, Costa Rica, Spain, Philippines, Laos and Vietnam. My wife does not like to rough it too much and gets a bit nervous with my modest adventures so I am looking for an occasional future fellow traveller who's curious and likes moderate adventure.
If this might appeal to you email Don at munroiwm@xplornet.com.

LOOKING FOR 2 PADDLING PARTNERS TO CANOE THE ELK/THELON RIVERS IN JULY 2010

SASKATCHEWAN’S CHURCHILL RIVER CANOE OFFERINGS SUMMER 2010
Paddling Saskatchewan’s legendary exploration and fur trade history rich waters make up my two cost sharing offerings. Friends fly in from all over the world. The first gives you an opportunity to paddle with one of the great living legends of adventure and exploration: Capt. Norm Baker. Kon-Tiki's Thor Heyderhahl did 3 other drifts, around 1970: Ra and Ra-II across the Atlantic, and Tigris in the Persian Gulf. Norm was Thor's best friend, first mate, navigator and radioman. He's also a tremendous guy, on his 3rd trip with me, and is on the board of directors of New York's Explorers Club of which I'm also a member. You can see photo reports on last year’s trips on the William and Cree (which includes Norm) on the Saskatoon Canoe Club bulletin board. http://www.jasonschoonover.com/Churchill-2010/2010-Churchill-offerings.html

ONTARIO MNR BROCHURES
IRoni Furst has made a formal agreement with the MNR to publish those brochures that most of us remember from the good old days. They will appear in book format (rather than as is). This is a cost-recovery-only enterprise on her part, started 4 years ago. Perhaps you saw the copies that she placed at the book table at WCS 2010. The two volumes total about 4 inches thick. At the moment, she is working only on brochures for Ontario north of the Mattawa-French. If you have old brochures that you would like to lend to her (yes, she will return them), please email her at stfursto@aol.com . Again, she is working on northern Ontario at the moment so please ask before sending her brochures for the Mattawa, the French and the south. You can make a real contribution to paddling in Ontario by sifting through those files and telling her what you have available, hey, maybe even please your partner.
